An electric motor is a device for converting electrical energy into mechanical energy. Tools that function otherwise, convert mechanical energy into electrical energy called a generator or dynamo. Electric motors can be found in household appliances such as fans, washing machines, water pumps and vacuum cleaners.
Electric motors commonly used in the industrial world are asynchronous electric motors, with two global standards namely IEC and NEMA. Metric-based IEC asynchronous motor (millimeters), while NEMA electric motorcycles are imperial (inch), in the application there is a power unit in horsepower (hp) and kiloWatt (kW).
IEC electric motors are divided into several classes according to their efficiency, as a standard in the EU, the division of these classes becomes EFF1, EFF2 and EFF3. EFF1 is the most efficient electric motor, at least wasting energy, while EFF3 must not be used in the EU environment, because it wastes fuel in the power plant and will automatically cause the most carbon emissions, making it more polluting the environment.
The applicable IEC standard is IEC 34-1, this is a standard that regulates rotating electric-powered equipment. There are many electric motor factories, but only a few actually follow the directions of IEC 34-1 and also follow the direction of the efficiency level of the EU.
Many electric motor manufacturers do not follow the IEC and EU standards so that their products become cheaper and more sold, many developing countries are the market for this product, which in the long run wastes user finance, because electricity bills are increasing every year.
The institution that regulates and guarantees this level of efficiency is CEMEP, a consortium in Europe that was founded by well-known electric motor factories, with the aim of saving the environment by reducing carbon pollution globally, because a lot of power is wasted in the use of electric loads.
For example, in an industry the average electricity consumption for electric motors is around 65-70% of the total electricity cost, so using an efficient electric motor would reduce production overhead costs, thereby increasing product competitiveness, especially with an increase in electricity rates every year , then the use of EFF1 electric motorbike has become a must.
